Elephant

Order Proboscidea

This order contains 2 species of elephants - African and Asian Elephants. Some split the African Elephant into 2 or more species.

In Singapore, the Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus) has become extinct, but on very rare occasions, visitors have been found on Pulau Ubin[1] and Tekong[2]. They came from the forest of Johor, Malaysia.
